JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC is the first and only dermal filler approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat signs of aging in the midface. Those unhappy with lost volume in the cheek area can benefit from the contouring potential of this innovative injectable treatment. It is composed of an advanced formula that contains hyaluronic acid (HA), a hydrating substance found naturally in skin, which can provide long-lasting results. Patients aged 21 and older who have moderate to severe signs of facial aging, including wrinkles and folds in the midface, are eligible for JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC injections and should schedule a consultation with Dr. Zemmel to learn if they are a good candidate for the treatment.

Where is JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC used?

With its unique composition, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC targets loss of volume in three areas of the cheek: the apex, apple, and hollow. When injected into one or more of these areas, patients can benefit from a more youthful contour to the midfacial region. Additionally, this restored volume helps correct a hollow appearance and fill in fine lines and wrinkles.

What to Expect from a JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC Treatment

During the treatment, our experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Neil J. Zemmel, will inject the appropriate amount of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC into the target areas to provide the most satisfactory results. Since the injectable contains a small dose of the numbing agent lidocaine, any discomfort or pain is minimized, allowing for a more comfortable procedure.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC Treatment Results

Patients can typically begin to see their results immediately following the treatment. One of the most significant aspects of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC, however, is its long-lasting results. Patients can often see the anti-aging effects of their injections for up to two years, allowing them to maintain their beautiful results for longer periods of time.

Side Effects Associated with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC

Little to no downtime is typically needed following JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC injections. However, mild temporary reactions are possible, though they should fade within the first two to four weeks. These side effects may include mild tenderness, lumps, firmness, swelling, discoloration, itching, and bruising. Should a more serious reaction occur, the formula can be reversed through a special injectable that helps break down the HA.  Please inform Dr. Zemmel of any problems you may encounter.
