Sciton Moxi™ Laser Treatment

What Is the Moxi Laser Treatment?

Moxi laser treatment is a powerful, non-ablative, fractionated laser technique that is designed to address signs of aging by improving the tone, texture, and pigmentation of the skin. With a wavelength of 1927nm and a depth of 200 microns, the Moxi laser delivers heated energy to the skin in a procedure that can be effective for virtually all skin types and can be used on a range of face and body areas. With Moxi laser treatment, our experienced team can revitalize the skin for a healthier, glowing complexion in a procedure that often requires little to no downtime.

What Are the Benefits of the Moxi Laser?

The gentle yet powerful Moxi skin resurfacing laser treatment targets pigment and texture concerns, especially for those seeking to correct the initial, noticeable signs of aging and sun damage. This non-invasive laser therapy can deliver numerous potential benefits, including:

  • Smoother, more radiant skin tone and texture
  • Reduced hyperpigmentation and melasma
  • Diminished signs of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Smaller pore sizes
  • Increased collagen production

During an initial consultation to discuss and examine your skin concerns, our team can create a treatment plan that is best suited to achieve your desired aesthetic rejuvenation goals.

What Does the Moxi Laser Treatment Involve?

Moxi laser treatment is often a relatively quick procedure, generally lasting about 12 to 15 minutes. To begin, a topical numbing cream can be applied to the relevant areas as needed to maximize comfort, although most patients find the treatment to be quite tolerable. Next, our provider will glide the Moxi computerized handpiece over the treatment areas to deliver the heated energy to thousands of microthermal treatment zones in targeted “fractions” of skin. Patients may experience a mild prickling sensation as the laser is applied to the skin, which should be alleviated by the device’s cooling mechanism. The laser can be adjusted to three different levels to achieve customized results for each patient, which range from “prevent and refresh” to “revitalize and maintain” and “transform and renew.” Typically, visible results can be seen after just one session; however, a series of two to four Moxi treatments spaced about one week apart may be recommended for the most successful outcome.

Additionally, for optimal results, Moxi laser resurfacing can be combined with BroadBand Light (BBL™) therapy – an anti-aging skin procedure that treats skin redness, pigmentation issues, and texture concerns while triggering new skin cell generation and collagen production. Both treatments can be performed in the same visit to unveil brighter, softer, more even-toned skin.

What Can I Expect After My Moxi Laser Treatment?

For most patients, one of the best features of Moxi laser rejuvenation is the ease of recovery with minimal downtime for all levels of treatment. Directly following the appointment, the affected skin will most likely appear pink and produce a tingling sensation that should fade within a few hours. In general, patients should expect about two to five days for potential side effects such as very mild swelling and skin sloughing of the top layer to subside. During this time, it’s best to stay out of the sun and be sure to apply a moisturizing sunscreen and high-quality skin care products every day going forward to help prevent future damage. Results are usually noticeable after one week. Follow-up treatments one to two times each year after the initial session(s) can be helpful to maintain results for as long as possible.
